 HoiAn  ( Sept 7 - 9th )

We stayed in this cute beautifully designed and authentically Vietnamese with a slight French influence in its decor.  This Little HoiAn Boutique Hotel & Spa costs us US50 per night for a double room.

It is amazing little boutique hotel strategically located on the edge of the river and within minutes of walking distance to all the heritage sites and 5 mins walk to the Japanese Bridge as well.
We rented bicycles ( US2 a day each ) and cycled all the way along the river side to the pottery village.

Beautifully designed and decorated with a French flare mixed with local Vietnamese colors and motifs. The staff are very friendly and chatty and speaks good English too. They recommended us some nice eating places ie Morning Glory and even made reservations for us.

Hanoi  ( Sept 11 - 15th )

2 nights in Hanoi A1 Hotel ( US32 per double room per night) due to its location at the Old Quarters of Hanoi and the last night in Mai Charming Hotel. ( US22 per double room per night )

HanoiA1 is strategically located in the middle of the Old city of Hanoi, 3 min walk to the Hoa, Kiem Lake. Service and staff are very good and friendly. Unfortnately, the next door neighbor was undergoing some renovation and heavy drilling and demolision works was underway, which made it extremely impossible to even have a rest. The manager of this hotel , Mr James, is so nice and kind to offer us immediately a transfer to another hotel down the same street ( 4 min walk ) and much much quieter and free of charge.

So we moved to Crystal Hotel.

after our Halong Bay overnight trip, we returned to Hanoi and stayed one last night in Mai Charming Hotel, which is on the north western side of the Hoem Kiem Lake. (about 8 - 10 min walk away from lake)
To our delight, this really charming little white hotel has everything we need and super clean, friendly and excellent hot showers in our room. Room a bit small but it has everything a traveller would need, even a good heavy safe thats stuck on to the floor and even a locked cable to the wardrobe for you to lock your luggage bag to. Some of the other Vietnam hotels have safe boxes which when request, will be carried to your room ! its so light , anyone can just carry it away too ...haha. Highly recommendable. cheap too at about US25 per room per night.
