about Da Nang

DA NANG is a city evolving.... no where in Vietnam is changing as fast as Da Nang. Indeed, a modern city with so many huge international hotels along its beach front, miles and miles of endless beach.

Cau Rong Bridge ( Dragon Bridge )
The city itself has few conventional sight seeing spots except for a very decent museum and a stunning quirky bridge. Now every weekend, it shoots fireworks from its mouth for about 10 min display and many street vendors would set up seats and benches for people to watch and of course patronise their coffee/food stall.

For decades it had the reputation of provincial backwater, but big changes are ongoing. Strolling along the Han Riverfront and you will see modern designed and decorated hotels, apartments and restaurants are emerging. Spectacular new bridges now span the Han river and in the north of the city. The landmark new D-City is rising from the flatlands.

we walked across the Dragon Bridge after our dinner at Mi Quang Noodle shop....amazing lights from the city and the bridge.

a very modern city and still developing....

and our rides waiting for us in front of the hotel ...... wishful thinking.

Danang makes a good base for day trips. The city is part of a long thin peninsula, at the northern tip of which is  Nui Son Tra (Monkey Mountain). China Beach and the five Marble Mountians lies south west of the city.

China Beach ( My Khe ) is an American drama series set in an evacuation hospital during the Vietnam War. Considered to be Vietnam's most picturesque beach , the white sandy 20 mile stretch of China Beach was named by the American troops who visited it. The proper name is " NON NUOC ".

It offers excellent surfing just off the shores during the month of September. Once listed in the Forbes Magazine as one of the " World's Most Luxurious Beaches ", the stunning sands of China Beach offers surfers and sun seekers a gloriously unspoilt hideaway with a host of big brand hotels like Raffles and Hyatt, and numerous boutique accomodations and B&B.
The best time to visit is between May and October.
